How to use Badoo?

Sign-up process

There are many options how to sign-up for Badoo. Besides the most popular option, sign-up using your Facebook profile, there are other options such as sign-up using MSN, Yandex, VKontakte, or Odnoklassniki. If you don’t want to use any of these options, you can create an account with your mail answering few basic questions such as gender, purpose of account (chat, friendship, dating), and basic information such as name, date of birth, locations and the most important – email address.

All these information can be changed later if you need but your email address will be used during sign-in so it is recommended to use your active email address. Once you create your profile, Badoo sends you an activation link into your mail. After activation, a password to your account is sent to your mailbox. This can be changed also in your profile.

Setting-up profile

Profiles on Badoo contain a lot of information and Badoo encourages heavily to enter as much information as possible. The more information you fill-in, the more information you will see on profile of other users.

You can import all information from your social media profile or enter them manually. Uploading photos or videos is really easy. Unless you upload at least 3 pictures, you won’t be allowed to browse through pictures of other users (only main profile picture will be available).

Other than that you can fill-in your interest, short text introduction and basic information such as status (single, in relationship, open-minded, married), orientation, body-type, living, children and if you are smoker or drink alcohol. The last information is about languages you can speak. This can be used when other users around the world want to contact you.

Filtering users on Badoo

Once you set your profile and fill-in all necessary information, you can start browsing through users. Unfortunately, besides basic filters such as gender, age, location and distance, there no other option to match with someone.

You can filter only users who are active at the moment which is definitely a useful features for those who don’t want to wait for an answer ages. As we have stated at the beginning, there is no other option to find out if user is active or not so this might be the only filter you can use to find active users.

Matching with someone on Badoo

If you have found someone you want to contact, you can send him/her direct message. Some users, however, require to match before they start a communication with you. This is done through little “heart” icon next to the profile of each users. If you like someone, he/she can decide if she likes you back and want to start communication with you.

You can start communication with someone only if you are in the same country. But that’s not a problem if you change your country to any country around the world. This is also allowed so matching with someone in another country is not really a problem more than a little inconvenience.

Premium account

Lots of advanced features on Badoo are paid on a subscription basis. In general, you will have no problem to meet someone even without premium account. If you, however, want to enjoy it fully, you can subscribe for premium account and see all the additional information such as who liked you, who added you into favorites and other information which are hidden in free tier. If you subscribe for premium account, you are also showed more in front of other users resulting in more communication and activity of other users with you.

Previews and user interface of Badoo

Badoo had recently a big makeover to a modern and sleek user-interface. In general, it is very easy to use and even less tech-savvy people will have no problems with using it.

Final thoughts

Large active user-base, great location-based matching algorithm, many features and profiles containing many information. These are the main assets which makes Badoo a great option to meet someone online.
