In-depth review of Tinder
If you are curious how does the whole experience with Tinder look like, you should definitely keep on reading. We will review the whole process from the point of installation, through registration, profile setting, filtering users to communication with other users.
Registration process on Tinder
If you want to sign-up on Tinder you need to have a Facebook account. On the main registration screen, there is only one button which will redirect you to Facebook app. Once you authorize Tinder in Facebook app Tinder will pull your age, profile pictures and name to create your new profile.
Some information can be changed later and you can rearrange or delete any picture you do not want to show up in your profile. Tinder has age restrictions and it allows you to create account only if you are 18 or more. This is however checked against Facebook profile so you can easily changed it and register even if you are under 18.
Setting-up Tinder profile
There’s not much you can set-up in your Tinder profile. And that’s good. Unlike other dating apps, it won’t require anything besides the basic information. Your profile picture, age, name, sex, current work or uni and likes are all pulled out of your Facebook profile.
Although you can’t change your name and age, there are other information which can be added in form of short introduction (500 character limit). Tinder allows also integration with Spotify showing your Top artists and Instagram to show photos from your profile if you fancy.
Other than showing your pictures it has “Smart Photos” feature, which continuously tests all your profile photos and picts the one which is the best one to show first.
Filtering users on Tinder
You can filter users based on Location (or maximum distance), gender and age. Once you select your preferences, you are good to go and can start swiping. Beyond that it is really simple. You just see a picture, age, name and occupation of person based on your preferences and either swipe left to show that you are not interested or swipe right to show your interest. You can also click through to get to a profile and see additional information.
Communication on Tinder
The whole concept of Tinder is based on matching with other person. Unless someone “likes” you back, you cannot send him/her any message. If you like someone, who likes you back it will be added to list of contacts and you can start communication anytime. Number of chats isn’t limited and the recent ones show up as first in the list.
If you don’t want to communicate with somebody anymore, you can easily “unlike” the person which will delete all the communication from your and his account.
Premium account (Tinder Plus)
Tinder offers also premium account with three levels of subscription. The options are one month, 6 months and one year. The major differences with a free account are following
- unlimited swipes, which are limited for a free account
- 5 free super-likes every day, which can be used to notify other person that you like them without a need to match with them
- Swiping around the world will allow you to swipe even in different country if you are traveling for a vacation and you want to find someone before you travel
- You can show your profile only to people who you liked
- Some information can be hidden from your profile
- No advertising
- ..and the best one – unlimited rewinds. If you accidentally discard someone, you can go back and change your decision.
